The Full Importance of Vehicle Inspection in Virginia

The only way to make sure that your vehicle continues to be street legal is for it to pass a vehicle inspection. Different states and territories may have various regulations and laws, but whether you are driving or have a driver ferry you around Maryland, Virginia, or the District, you need to make sure that your vehicle passes smog checks and any other inspections that you need to complete. Here is a look at the full importance of vehicle inspection in Virginia.

How Vehicle Inspections Work

You’ll notice a sticker attached to the windshield of your vehicle. On this sticker will have two essential pieces of information: a month and a year. These dates indicate when the inspection expires. Before this happens, the vehicle will need to be inspected again – if you don’t get the car appropriately inspected, you can be subject to a fine. Avoiding tickets while out on the road will allow you to keep up with your busy schedule, no matter what it is you have to do, and you won’t have to worry about having run-ins with police officers on patrol for these violations. The stickers associated with each year and the inspection period will be a different color every year. This gives law enforcement a clearer idea of how outdated your inspection results are, especially if you are driving from one state into another.

Different Types of Tests

First of all, there is a safety test. The safety test is meant to inspect the condition of the airbags, horns, tires, windshield wipers, lights, engine, fluid systems, and brakes, among other operations. Passing this component of the inspection is critical, as is the review for the motor and any other part of the car, including the seat belts and exhaust system, that have not been inspected for several years. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that the vehicle is safe enough to be operated on the open road without putting the driver, passengers, and other motorists in danger. Inspection orders cannot and should not be ignored. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out!
